Category Guide & Buying Information Fitment, power & selection tips
Shop high-output alternators selected for car audio builds, daily drivers, work trucks, off-road vehicles, and competition systems. Start with your exact year, make, model, and engine, then compare amperage options, idle output, voltage-control requirements, and available boosted-harness or PCM-bypass options.
A high-output alternator helps support large amplifiers when the factory charging system cannot keep up. For best results, pair the alternator with properly sized OFC wiring, a Big 3 upgrade, correct fusing, and battery capacity matched to the system. If you are unsure about fitment or output, use Build My System before ordering.

How many amps do I need?
Required alternator output depends on total amplifier RMS power, amplifier efficiency, vehicle electrical demand and charging voltage. Use the car audio amp draw calculator to estimate amplifier current, then allow headroom for the vehicle and battery charging.
Rated output vs idle output
Rated output and idle output are different. An alternator may reach its advertised output at higher RPM but supply less current at idle. Compare idle output for your exact alternator, especially if you play your system at stoplights or during demos.
Boosted harness / PCM bypass
Some modern vehicles regulate charging voltage through the ECU or PCM. A compatible boosted harness or PCM bypass may be needed for a specific charging setup; compatibility and voltage depend on the vehicle, alternator and battery system. Review Alternator Help & FAQs and ask CAS to confirm the correct solution before ordering.
Fitment
Choose your exact year, make, model and engine, then compare the available amperage options. Send CAS those vehicle details, your total amplifier RMS power and battery type if you need help confirming fitment and charging requirements.
