AutoTech Engineering Alternators require a .5 inch smaller belt than your OEM Alternator
AutoTech Engineering alternators need a minimum of 650rpm to charge.
Unless otherwise quoted or instructed, our units come with the OEM voltage output for plug-and-play alternators. The quoted voltage settings are already built into the alternator's voltage regulator. Remember that in PCM- and ECU-controlled vehicles, the vehicle's “brain/computer” controls the voltage.
What is a Bypass?
If you choose to have a bypass, you are wiring around the PCM or ECU voltage control. This allows us to customize the charging voltage beyond what the vehicle’s computer normally permits. In most cases, the battery warning light will remain illuminated.
Bypass charging voltage: 14.8V.
Important: A PCM/ECU bypass is required when using the boosted harness.

Plan Your 2019–2020 Jeep Wrangler Alternator Upgrade
- Vehicle and engine
- 2019–2020 Jeep Wrangler — 3.6L. Confirm the full fitment list and provide your exact year, make, model and engine when ordering.
- Selectable output options
- 270A, 320A, 350A or 400A. Review the chosen option and any additional order requirements above.
Idle versus rated output: Maximum amperage is available at the specified alternator speed; it is not the same as output while stopped. Compare the idle-output information above with your amplifier demand and the vehicle’s own electrical load. Ask CAS about the selected amperage option if its idle specification is not shown.
Charging-system compatibility: Confirm the charging-voltage range required by your battery setup. Some vehicles use ECU/PCM voltage regulation; a compatible boosted harness or PCM bypass may be needed for a particular configuration. An optional control product is not automatically required on every vehicle. Check the listing and alternator fitment and voltage FAQs before choosing a solution.
Use the amplifier current calculator to estimate audio demand and allow headroom for the vehicle. For low charging voltage, follow our voltage-drop diagnosis guide. Plan compatible battery reserve and power and ground wiring alongside the alternator.
